Description

Holy Collectible Car Batman!  This is it!!!!   If you like unique, one of a kind, nothing else like it in the world cars, you will LOVE this one. This is a 1973 Opel that was converted into a novelty batmobile. This car comes with a great story and quite a bit of fame. There are people all over the country that ask about the Opel Batmobile on forums and specialty car websites all the time. It is fun to go on collectible forums and read about people who have seen this car at a car show and want to know where it is. It is especially cool when the very car they are talking about is in my garage. I will take you through step by step the history, condition and features of this wonderfully unique machine.

HISTORY: This car was converted by a doctor in California into the batmobile to bring to the hospital for kids. Being a batman fanatic, he left no detail out right down to the custom bat symbols stitched into the door panel. When his batmobile made the local newspaper, SONY decided to take the car one step further and outfit it with enough top of the line electronics (I will list them all in features) to make the space shuttle look like a toy.  The doctor eventually tracked down the original batmobile and let this one go to a private collector here on Long Island. Now, it will be sold auction style and go to the highest bidder from a private collection. Trust me, there are several private auction houses that would love to get their hands on this but only a chosen few get to witness those types of auctions. Ebay was decided to be the best and fairest way to allow everybody a chance to own this peice of history.

FEATURES: Please read everything this car has to offer. Everytime you sit in it you will notice something new.

Exterior:  Starting up front you will notice a very neat turbine style wheel with the bat symbol painted just above it on the hood. The symbols on the car are not decals. They are painted on in the most professional finish I have ever seen. The paint is shiny black and between the finish and the symbols must have cost a fortune alone. People in the business that have seen this car and estimate the paint job between nine and eleven thousand dollars when it was done. Making your way up the outside you will notice the bat ears on the roof and the wings on the back. The back of the car sports the dual exhaust pipes, a pretend turbo/jet  type exhaust and a really sharp bat emblem. The rims are alloy style with the bat symbols on the center caps.

If you notice the doors have no handles. They open by remote control on your alarm key ring. Don't worry if the battery goes dead or you loose your remote, there is an override under the car you can use to get you in.

Under the car has purple hover lights that look really cool at night. As if people weren't going to notice you anyway.

Interior: This is the fun part. This car is a one seater with an entire control center next to you and a batman head behind you. You will see all the bat emblems on the steering wheel, gauges and shifter. Under the shifter are 5 switches. Switch 1 is a master. Switch 2, 3 and 4 operate automatic doors and are like secrete compartments for your electronics. You flick these switches and the doors will open and close automatically. It looks awesome and impressive when you go to change a CD and the little door buzzes open. Switch 5 operated the purple hover lights under the car and the lights that reflect off of the chest of the batman head behind you(see pics). Here is a list of the electronics installed.

1. SONY Digital Navigation System #NVX-F160

2.SONY Pre-Amp XDP-U50D

3. SONY Magic Link System with pager. This is the original vehicle PDA system before there were PDAs. Google Sony Magic Link System to get an idea. I do not know how to use it but it is there. I think you send emails, messaging, etc.

4. SONY Magic Link SkyTel Card

5. SONY 10 Disk CD Changer CDX-U404

6. SONY Hi-8 VCR

7. Pioneer CD player DEH-85 in the dash....comes with the batman theme on cd!

8. Alpine Bat Phone #91530

9. Pro Series Boston Acoustic Kicker Box #6-2 with bat decals inside clear plexiglass

10.Rockford Fossgate Puch 45 Amp

11.Super Nintendo NES Game system with Batman Forever game.......yes, a game system that plays batman!

12.SONY Interface Equalizer #XE-744

13.Alpine 80-80 Remote Commander RMX 38 (something to do with the alarm I think)

14.Alpine Alarm 8401 with paging system, unlocks and opens doors, windows...It will take you a full day just to learn the alarm system.

All the manuals for these electronics as well at the original 1973 Opel owners manual will be included.

**Due to all the electronics, the car comes with a plug that plugs in under the nose that you can use to keep the car charged if you are not going to be driving it that often.

CONDITION: This car runs great. It has been garaged most of its life and was trailered to car shows for the last 10 years. It gives off a little puf of smoke when first started after a long sit but thats it. The motor is strong and the clutch feels good. The tires have lots of life left and I would trust this car for a long distance drive. The only cosmetic flaws are a small crack in the ground effects under the nose which is hardly noticable and someone who didnt know how to open the door with the remote obviously tried to pry the door open leaving a small indent. Again, not bad just worth mentioning. This car could be your daily driver (if you like attention) or just a show peice.

If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask. If you would like to come look, email me and I will set something up. This is a no reserve auction so the high bidder will win. Bid early. I have local collectors interested but I think Ebay would be fun so bid away!

Please do not bid unless you have the funds. This auction will recieve tons of attention and I will take personal interest in attaching liens to a deadbeat bidders accounts. If you have no or little feedback, please email me first. If your feedback is less than 10 and I do not hear from you, I will contact Commissioner Gordon and your bid will be retracted Perhaps we can talk on the phone to verify you are a real person with true intentions.

Thank you for looking and good luck
